If you’ve had several jobs, one of your previous employers may have used Nest for their workplace pension. You might choose to transfer your Nest pension if:

  • You’ve switched jobs and want to move your old workplace pension.

  • You wish to consolidate your pensions into one account.

  • You’re not satisfied with the charges or growth on your Nest pension.

  • You want to withdraw your pension savings from one place once eligible.

Ways to Transfer Your Nest Pension

1. Use Pension App

Transferring your Nest pension to Pension App is simple. You can provide a few basic details and select Nest from the list of pension providers. Pension App will then find and transfer all eligible pensions into your new Pension App pension using a secure digital transfer system called Origo.

You can track your transfer progress through your online account or the Pension App on your smartphone.

Once your pensions have been combined, you’ll be able to:

  • View your total pension valuation in one place.

  • Monitor the tracing and transfer process.

  • Switch between three investment funds (Cautious, Balanced, and Adventurous).

  • Add money to your pension.

  • Withdraw from your pension when eligible.

2. Use a Financial Adviser

You can also choose to transfer through a financial adviser. This may be suitable if you are seeking advice about your retirement options or whether consolidation is right for you. If your adviser recommends switching your Nest pension, they will set up a new pension provider who will then request the transfer from Nest on your behalf.

Our Experience with Nest

Nest generally has a supportive and straightforward approach to pension transfers. They subscribe to the industry standard digital transfer system Origo, which helps speed up the process.

In our experience:

  • Requests are usually acknowledged promptly.

  • Funds are released within a reasonable timeframe.

  • In a small number of cases, Nest may ask you to confirm or update your personal details for security purposes.

When transferring a pension from Nest to Pension App, a Pension Liberation Questionnaire (PLQ) is required if the pension fund value exceeds £1,000. This is a standard precaution designed to help prevent pension scams and ensure the transfer is legitimate.

If you’re a Pension App customer, your Transfer Specialist will contact you directly if any extra information is required to complete your transfer.
